Backups, files and SSH keys

Backups and file work are available for servers you manage through Orax too (VPS and external).

Files:

• View and edit files and configs via web tools/the terminal.
• Upload and download what you need; for large volumes scp/rsync over SSH is handy.

Backups:

• Back up important directories and databases before changes (updates, config edits, deploy).
• Keep copies in a safe place, ideally off the server itself.
• Periodically verify you can actually restore from a backup.

Good practices:

• Backup → change → verify. Never change something important “live” without a copy.
• For regular tasks set a schedule (cron on the server).
• Enable confirmation for critical changes and watch the background-watch alerts.

Remember: on your own/external server, responsibility for data safety and backups is yours (unlike managed hosting, where the platform handles much of it).
