Backups

Backups are your insurance: with them you can restore a site after a mistake, a failed update or data loss.
Where: service → “Backups” section.
What to do:
- Create a backup before risky actions (CMS update, code edits, PHP version change).
- Download important backups to yourself — so the data doesn't depend on one place.
What's in a backup: usually site files; databases are best also exported as a dump (in “Databases”/phpMyAdmin).
Good habits:
- Regularity: a backup before every major change.
- Several copies at different points in time.
- Verify the backup works (at least that the archive downloads and opens).
Important: terminating a service deletes everything with no recovery, and staging “Go Live” automatically backs up production before replacing it. But keep the primary responsibility for data backups with yourself.
